Be Memorable

The Best Domain Name is; memorable, easy to spell, short, tells what your website is about, keyword enriched, and has a .COM Extension.
Your Memorable Domain Name should be:

1. Easy to Remember

One way of doing this is a play on words.
For example, my dog, Stewie's Domain Name is a play on words from the popular song Who Let the Dog Out . . . www.Who Let The Dog In.com.

2. Easy to Spell . . . Short & Sweet

If they can't spell it, or remember it, they can't find it.
It can be 'Key' to your business success. Imagine hearing your Website Name on the Radio or TV. Listeners must be able to 'remember it' by the time they get to their computer to 'type it in correctly' to get to your website.

3. Tell What Your Website Is About

When a person hears your website name they should have some idea what it is about. You're not there to explain it to them. A good example of this is a website called BestPricesForPainting.comThis is exactly about what it says it's about. A site to get the best quote for painting. If each painter pays $10 to quote and you have 10 painters quoting, that means the website owner would make $100 per quote.

For example there is a car insurance quoting business called Kanetix. When people hear it, they think you said'Kinetics'. . . which is the definition of motion, not the definition of car insurance. This leads to immediate confusion. Plus, there are too many wrong ways of spelling this 'made up word.' When Kanetix's does radio ads they have to waste air time by spelling out their name.

4. Make It Keyword Enriched

This is a good way to pick up on some search traffic. When a person searches for a Keyword Phrase that matches your website name, your website may be displayed more readily by the search engines then other websites.

5. Have a .com Extension

Many people still default to entering .com to find a website. Make that your website extension so they find you.

6. Get Your Country's Extension

You may also wish to purchase the extension for the country you live in, like .ca for Canada, .us for the United States.

If you don't, and you become well known, someone make pick up your exact Domain Name, but with your country's extension. By doing this they may also pick up your clients.
